This is Not Your Grandma's Bingo

The holidays are less than a week away, and what better way to celebrate than with Betties, bingo, and booze? Come unwind at NB and let resident host, DeeDee Chaunte, give you the best present of all: sanity before the craziness!

This is not your grandma’s bingo (unless your grandma is cool… We have people bring their cool grandmas all the time). You can expect lots of naughty laughs, fun holiday themed prizes, holiday themed drag performances, and more! A ticket gives you permission to BYOB, so grab your favorite holiday cocktail and we’ll see you Thursday!

Beauty Beyond Drag is always trying to keep it fresh with new guests every month! This month’s Naughty Bingo will include a power drag couple from Jackson, MI. Joining us after claiming first runner-up in the Miss Beauty Beyond Drag Pageant back in November, Betty J is a stunning bearded beauty, and it just so happens that their partner in crime is also the love of their life. Velma Violet is the other half, and you can expect an alternative style of rock and roll holiday shenanigans from this one! This duo travels Michigan and hits all the spots, road dogging it with each other across our beautiful state.

Our charcoochie (charcuterie) board contest in October was such a big hit that we decided to bring it back for the Holidays! We had some of the most elaborate boards, all decorated for Haloween. Well, this time, we’re encouraging you to decorate your board the only way we know how: NAUGHTY! And if you’ve been in the studio, you know we love Christmas music! This is a fun way to let loose a little before the weekend. Decorate a platter any way you would like (we recommend the risque route) for your chance to win a naughty holiday gift from DeeDee herself! We’ve got vibes. We’ve got pasties. We’ve got lubes. AND MORE!

Never been to a drag bingo? We encourage you to try it! Anyone who has ever come to our bingos falls in love with DeeDee. She just has this essence about her that makes you feel good. I’ve been working with DeeDee since June of 2018, and have seen her as a person I look up to as an example in this community LONG before that. When DeeDee is not twirling for the children, she is running an amazing non-profit right here in Grand Rapids called FOE (Family Over Everything), that has proudly stood by its community while fighting against brutality and social justice issues by hearing the concerns of the people, feeling their pains, and then addressing that behavior or circumstance for a better and more equitable society. So not only do we have a lovely host over here, her values are ACE and she is an active member of societal change!

5 Must Have Toys to Add To Your Collection This Holiday Season That Will Make You Sing 'O, Holy Night'

Feeling a little naughty this holiday season? As always, we’ve got you covered! You can rest assured that we carefully hand-pick each product that we list on our store, with you in mind. With the holidays right around the corner, maybe it’s time to let your hair down. Take some time for yourself! We’ve compiled a list of 5 sexy essentials for the season, sure to make you ho-ho-hohhhhhhhhhyeah:

Looking for a new bestie? Every Bettie should own Rianne’s Classique Vibe. This medical grade silicone vibrator comes with a sleek and sexy cosmetics bag, perfect for bringing the party on the road! With 7 different vibration modes, this little guy will have you blushing in no time from gentle vibrations. Mod B tested, Mod B approved! If you have never owned a toy, this is a great place to start. And it’s affordable!

Need a little more Va Va in that Voom? Look no further. This bad boy will make you hit the high notes. The Le Wand Glimmer Wand may look small, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in power. With 10 intensities and 6 patterns, this 10” shower friendly wand will have you curling your toes in no time. It has a great charge, with two hours for every one hour of play. We definitely can see why it won a Women’s Health FEMTECH Award. Did we mention it’s USB rechargeable? The glimmer wand’s easy-to-control buttons allow you to focus on what matters: YOU!

Clitoral stimulation is huge, as it releases a lot of Oxytocin. The better the orgasm, the more Oxytocin released. The clit functions just like it’s penile counterpart, and holds around 8,000 nerve endings. If you’re trying to achieve an optimal climax, the Dame Eva II is a great go-to.

Tucking right under your labia, the three-speed motor on this puppy stimulates the clit and stays right out of the way so you can release those chemicals! Try putting it in during penetration. You won’t regret it.

Our list wouldn’t be complete without the Le Wand Corded Vibrator. Are you tired of your toy dying halfway through fun time? Adaptable to any plug you can imagine, this powerful vibrator is the supreme pizza of vibrators. With an 8 foot cord, your vibrator is not going to die on you on this good day! Utilize the Le Wand with your mate for an even more orgasmic time. Literal decades have gone by, and other toys still can’t hold a flame to a wand.

Okay, so when we saw this next one, we just had to put it on the list. Talk about discreet: the Crave Vesper doubles as a NECKLACE and is surprisingly powerful! That’s some James Bond level sh*t right there. You could be having holiday dinner at grandma’s table and nobody would even notice it’s there. This stainless steel, nickel-free USB rechargeable toy would make a perfect gift for that friend who has a dirty little secret. Or keep it for yourself, we won’t tell. It warms to your body temp when used, has three intensities, and an amazing pulsating mode! The beauty about the Vesper? It’s compatible with all lubes and you can take it wherever you want! Live a little. Be naughty!

You can purchase all of these products on our website at

https://naughtybettie.com/toys-vibrators/ or come into the store and we’ll help you pick the perfect fit for you.

Happy Holidays, Bettie!

DUE TO THE NAUGHTY NATURE OF OUR PRODUCTS WE DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS OR EXCHANGES XOXO

The Tale of a Non-Binary Power Couple:

A Couples Session at Mod Bettie

All the rumors are true, Betties. I’m the newest diva over here at the studio, so widen the doors and reinforce the runway. You can expect hot blogs alongside diverse and fresh new events!

But let’s get down to the good stuff...

Have you ever considered getting cozy in front of the camera with your boo? No special occasion to celebrate? That’s okay! An intimate couples session at Mod B is all about spending time together. You don’t need a special occasion for that. The special occasion is YOU! Those warmer days may not seem like they’re right around the corner, but things are heating up in the studio!

Recently, we had the pleasure to shoot with a lovely human named Marcus Johns and their stunning partner, Neal Primm. Marcus and Neal have a passionate relationship that goes well past our camera lens. When Marcus isn’t working in a lingerie store (we know what you’re thinking and we wish it was ours too 😘) and Neal isn’t custom tie-dying shirts for a living, this non-binary power couple turns into La Reine Divine and Lavender Hazze, star-crossed drag performer soulmates. But they’re so much more than that. They’re a shining example of what love looks like. I mean, have you seen the smiles in these photos? In the words of Crystal Waters, that is 100% pure love.

So how do you get shots like this? So passionate, sensual, head over heels in love...? I went to the source, Betties, and asked both of them separately what they think made their shoot so stellar. Here’s what I got:

Marcus: “Being with Elise because she really just knows how to pull magic out of you. Second thing would have to be being able to do this with Neal and just being able to have fun with it.

Neal: “The connection made with Elise, our photographer, made us just feel completely comfortable. For being stripped down I find it majorly important that the subjects feel comfortable enough to make it seem as if the photographer wasn’t really there. Like how that reads off in the captured photos, we just look like it’s any ole time but just us enjoying each other with a camera that is snapping shots.

It sounds to me that as long as you allow yourself to have fun with your partner, the shoot should go off without a hitch, right? Don’t overthink it. Just do it, and trust the process. Be in the moment and enjoy it. If you bring yourself to a session, we’ll do the rest and we can assure that you’ll leave feeling like a badass. Marcus and Neal looked damn good doing it, and you can too. So what are you waiting for, Bettie? You’re next! We’ve got your back. Remember: we all have this sexy in us.

***Couples sessions at Mod B are available to returning clients only.

It’s a post-Black Friday seasonal discount wasteland, right?

So What’s A Gal To Do? I Took A Burlesque Class

“Take it off, take it off", cries a voice from the rear

"Take it off, take it off", soon it's all you can hear

But she's always a lady even in pantomime

So she stops and always just in time”- Strip Polka, Johnny Mercer

I’ve always loved burlesque. The sultry art of the tease. The ability to captivate an entire audience with the simple act of taking off your glove or the sheer amount of skill it takes to make pastie tassels twirl in opposite directions.

The first time I saw burlesque live was in 2014 with the gorgeous and talented Maid Marian and a few other amazing performers at the Miss Skin Deep pinup contest.  Maid Marian walked around backstage with her monogrammed silk robe. Her poise and confidence radiated. I wanted to be a burlesque performer.  I wanted to beguile the audience.

_OD_0840_websize.jpg

So what’s a gal to do? I took a burlesque class.

This 8-week course taught me how to slowly and seductively unbutton my shirt, remove my stocking and straddle the F out of a folding chair to the song “Minnie the Moocher”.

My love for burlesque will never stop. I saw the legendary Dita Von Teese perform at 20 Monroe in 2018 and was NOT disappointed. This Michigan native has been performing burlesque since 1992.  Her shows are ornate spectacles of glitz and glam.  With giant martini glasses, lavish costumes covered with Swarovski crystals, and gorgeous sets! When Dita launched her lingerie line, the Betties and I at Naughty Bettie knew we had to carry it in the boutique and I have to say, I’m so proud that we do!

Women Who Desire

It was so exciting to have Women Who back in the Bettie Spaces Thursday night!

240712676_1496427490721660_5212595724705268468_n.jpg

Women Who is a local organization that connects the West Michigan community through partnerships, education, fun, and networking opportunities. We love partnering for events with this organization that invites females, female-identifying, and non-binary persons to celebrate one another’s achievements. If you remember, our last pre-pandemic event, Women Who Love, then you know that Women Who focuses on uplifting each other, be it business-oriented or lifestyle-oriented events and discussions.

For this year’s joint event, Women Who Desire, I was invited to discuss the issues women have with feeling desirable, beautiful, confident, and worthy of pleasure.

Dove Global Beauty and Confidence Report and Real Truth About Beauty surveyed women and girls around the world and found that only 4% of women considered themselves truly beautiful.  This number is up from 2% in 2004.  85% of women have opted out of important life events like family gatherings, going for promotions, events, and other activities because they didn’t feel good about their bodies.

The survey also found that 54% of women admitted that they were their own worst critics. So, we focus on the fact that 83% of women agree that every woman has something beautiful about them! We look at ourselves with the same eyes that we look at loved ones.

Statistics like these bring about important questions:

  • How do we feel desirable when only 4% of women worldwide have reported that they consider themselves truly beautiful?

  • What does it mean to be desirable?

And…

  • How can we prioritize and work on our own self-worth and self-actualized desirability?

Through discussion and the format of this collaborative, open-communication event, we discussed some ways to answer these questions and actively advocate for your desirability and confidence and put your worthiness and access to pleasure higher on the priority list.

Talk about it! Be clear with your partner(s) about what you want and need.  And follow through. Let your partner(s) know that you need more than active listening and collaborative discussion, you need action. Be sure to also ask your partner(s) what they want and need.

Write it out/Journal. Think about it and write it down.  Word vomit on the page all of your thoughts and feelings.  Getting things out helps you process your emotions and you can also use your journal as a guide: Track your progress, re-read old entries and make notes, invite yourself to be introspective and ask “Why do I feel like this?” and “What makes me feel more confident that I could do on a daily basis?”

Date yourself, get comfortable being alone with yourself. When was the last time you took yourself out on a date?  Go to a movie alone, go out to dinner alone? Treat yourself to something fun solo? Not just doing the basic things to keep yourself alive, but actually spoiling yourself. You’re a hot date! Act like it!

Acknowledge what you have to offer. When was the last time you took an inventory of all the things that make you awesome? Don't be modest, you’re amazing.

Stop offering yourself to people who don't want what you have to offer. Let me repeat that for the people in the back. STOP OFFERING YOURSELF TO PEOPLE WHO DON’T WANT WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER.  They don’t deserve you and they’re draining your reservoir of personal self-worth.

Accept that you can not control how other people feel or act. Period. Take care of YOU.

BE YOU. There are people who are asexual and do not have sexual desire in the traditional definition. You are valid.

Remember: There is nothing wrong with you.  It’s also normal for your desires or libido to change over your lifetime or even from day to day. It also needs to be said, there are some medical reasons that play into sexual desire. All of these reasons, whatever they may be, are valid. If you are in a season of life changes (Postpartum, menopause, on birth control, taking hormones) these can change your feelings of desire and self-confidence and if you are not happy with how you feel, I suggest consulting a trusted medical professional.

A special thank you to Maria Tornga of Mortgage Up for sponsoring last night’s event! Mortgage Up’s ultimate goal is to ensure that you make the right choice for you and your family, and they are committed to providing their customers with mortgage services that exceed their expectations!

The Goddess of Tease, Maid Marian

Grab those dollar bills and get ready to hoot and holler as we introduce our resident goddess of tease, Maid Marian!

This queen tassel twirler, started doing burlesque in 2012 and co-founded the burlesque troupe, the Danger Damsels Burlesque. Performing all over Grand Rapids and West Michigan with them until 2015 when she launched her solo career.

_OD_0944-2_websize.jpg

As a lover of all things flirty and fabulous, I can honestly say that the first time I saw Maid Marian perform in 2014 at the Miss Skin Deep pinup contest, I was completely in awe. Marian was walking around backstage with a robe embroidered with her name on it. I was starstruck. A few years later our paths crossed again and I love to tell the story of how I sat admiring her trying to figure out how to befriend her. Who knew it would be over vibrator crafts?

_OD_0100_WEB.jpg

Since her first glove peel, Marian has performed at various venues around Michigan and with renowned burlesquers like Angie Pontani and Red Rum! She has also posed for Dr. Sketchy Art School and numerous Mod Bettie and Naughty Bettie events.

You can even add a private performance and instruction class by Maid Marian to your Naughty Bettie event. We think this is perfect for Betties to Be so they can learn a few moves and delight their forever-partners on their wedding night!

In 2016, Maid Marian joined the vaudevillian troupe, The Frivolous Folies and has been on the board of directors since 2018.  Through her partnership with the Follies, Marian is able to not only showcase her expertise of the art of tease but her beautiful singing voice, too! This talented B just doesn’t quit!

_OD_0596_WEB.jpg

Her next endeavor is making her dreams of empowering others and their dreams with burlesque come true by offering classes and workshops.

Marian loves how burlesque helps women of all shapes and sizes gain body neutrality. Her ultimate goal is to share this source of empowerment and confidence with the West Michigan community.  Join her and Naughty Bettie on Friday August 27th for Burlesque Bettie! This class is for all bodies and abilities! Attendees will need to bring a plain button-up shirt, thigh highs ( available for purchase at Naughty Bettie). Wear something or buy something that night to wear under your button-up. Your ticket includes a pair of gloves, snacks & bevies, class, and 15% off at Naughty Bettie!

The first 15 Bs to register will also receive a pair of Rianne's feather pasties, retail $35!

Rock Your Curves on Curve St: a Naughty Bettie Pride Extravaganza

Ice sculpture created and donated by Ice Guru

Ice sculpture created and donated by Ice Guru

What’s Pride without a rainbow (or a tornado watch)?

We were not going to let the weather wash out our day! Friday morning it was all hands on deck as we moved from an outdoor block party to a complete takeover of the first floor of 1111 Godfrey North. A very special thank you to Urban Edge Management, LLC for allowing us to move Rock Your Curves inside last minute. Beth Harkin and the maintenance teams have always taken such good care of us since Mod B’s humble beginnings on the 4th floor. With a lot of help and tenacity, we were ready Saturday morning, rain or shine! Our hearts, studio, and hallways were full, which is just the way we like it.

The energy in the studio was electric as the Beauty Beyond Drag performers took the stage! Hosted by the vivacious Tequila Sanchez and sensational Fernando Fierce-Sanchez. With performances by La Reine Divine, Scarlett Rose, Vanity Blake, B.R.I.T., and Amira Spade.

It was a one of a kind of experience that gives us some FOMO for missing even a second of it! Fernando wowed the crowd by flipping off the stage, while Amira surprised us with splits, kicks, and shablams! Swords twirling, Vanity kept it dangerous and sexy without breaking a sweat. Scarlett Rose spread her rainbow butterfly wings and inspired us all to love ourselves, break free of our cocoons, and take flight in the freedom and confidence of being true to one’s self. When all was said and done, many $1’s, laughs, smiles, and dancing was had.

A huge thank you to Valerie, Kaleigh, and Gina for sign-interpreting to make our show more inclusive and enjoyable for everyone!

Our, All Bodies Are Good Bodies, Naughty Bettie Lingerie Fashion Show proved that lingerie is for everyone and every body, no matter your size, age, gender, gender expression, sex, or ability. We debuted our newest vendor, CantiqLA , a handcrafted, small-batch female-owned lingerie designer out of LA. Cantiq’s mission aligns perfectly with ours: that lingerie shouldn't be constricted to mainstream beauty standards or restrictive gender norms. Cantiq believes in creating lingerie for all, regardless of body type or gender identity. This inclusive fashion show demonstrated that everyone can rock their curves and celebrate their own version of sexy. No apologies, no exceptions, all confidence!

As I walked out in my jacquard silk Kilo Brava slip (in a 3x) with no bra and a pair of wings, I wasn’t walking out for just myself. I was walking out for anyone who has felt underrepresented or completely left out of lingerie or fashion. For those who haven’t seen someone that looks like them on the runway, my wings were for them.

Special thank you to Alyssa Knapp of ChromaTrade Makeup Artistry and Skin Therapy and Emily Frew, Cameron Sterling & Nicholas Proctor of The Pretty Committee for making our models shine even brighter!

POP IT. DROP IT. SHAKE IT.

What’s an amazing way to end an amazing day? With a booty-shaking dance performance and class with the talented hotties of Hotties in Heels GR. These B’s lit the place on fire and their light and confidence was infectious! Hotties in Heels is an inclusive dance class for womxn 18 and up on a mission to embrace their bodies and sexuality through dance.

Underwear as Outerwear: Styling your lingerie with Michelle Krick Style!

021A3665.jpg

Excitement filled the air and the studio was electric, as we hosted our FIRST post-Covid event!

One of the hot trends for spring, Michelle Krick Style and Naughty Bettie joined forces as fashion powerhouses to show the many ways to style your lingerie as outerwear!

FotoJet.jpg

“Styling lingerie as outerwear is easier than you think. Just try it! Utilize what you already have in your closet like high waisted jeans, flowy pants, skirts, and blazers to create a fun look. And go with your comfort level…there is no right way…just YOUR way!”- Michelle Krick

FotoJet (1).jpg

The #squad assembled and we brought the goodies! The bottles and booties were poppin’.

The fashion show was broken into two segments. The first portion was all about how to style your lingerie with your everyday wardrobe to create an exciting look that can go from bedroom to boardwalk or boardroom. Pair the pieces you already have in your closet, like a fun flowy skirt or a pair of high-waisted pants with bodysuits or bras. Top things off with a fun kimono, or elevate your look with a sharp blazer.

The second segment was all about fun! A night out with your friends or a hot date? The second portion of the fashion show was about being a little outrageous, a little daring, and a little wild.

FotoJet (2).jpg

If you thought the Fashion show was on fire, check out the photo booth. You Bs were too smoking hot to post.

This event was hosted in compliance with all local, state, federal Covid guidelines and regulations.

Michelle Krick is a fashion expert, wardrobe stylist, and personal shopper serving West Michigan. her expertise for style, trends, and fashion came out of 30 years in the retail industry. Her excitement was fueled when she saw the confidence her customers gained from a new look or outfit. She also loves the ever-changing world of trends in fashion.

Vodka welcome. Vulnerability encouraged. You've probably seen posts, read the comments and heard statements like, "Selfies are so vain," "Why does she take so many pictures of herself?" "Who does she think she is?" *THIS IS WHERE WE WAVE A GIANT RED FLAG IN THE AIR AND SAY, UH-UH, SISTER. NOT HAPPENING ON MY WATCH.* In a society that puts a camera in every hand but is quick to shame the selfie, our mission is to empower women by creating a safe and supportive environment for female self-expression. So help me vodka. Fact. (<-- Said in the voice of Dwight from The Office) A Squad is a collective whose parts make a whole, complicated, dimensional, and beautiful. Raise yo' hand if you've ever been steamrolled by that nasty little two-headed shit-monster, JUDGEMENT. *wipes sweat from your brow* *prepares you to go back in the ring* Yea us too. All of the sudden all the amazing parts that make you whole are dissected and judged leaving a big gaping whole in your soul. But the thing is you aren’t parts. You are a totally BETTIE. The whole package. A real fucking human being. And we need you. Because although we are occasionally outspoken and often brave, sometimes we need the stiff hand of a righteous Bettie to pull us through our self-sabotaging shit. *Quietly raises hand* We are perfectly flawed and have created this community for our friends, acquaintances and companions. For love, because always for love. This is a place for women to discuss, and find support, re body positivity and female empowerment. Please feel free to share resources, get support, post something you’ve found inspirational, or just chat with someone who understands what you’re going through. SquadBettie stands for Fempowerment, true acceptance, and building a supportive community. A true Bettie builds women up instead of bringing them down.
